Tough Guys: Images of Jewish Gangsters in Film

October 17, 2010

YBCA & San Francisco Jewish Film Festival present the series ‘Tough Guys: Images of Jewish Gangsters in Film’ throughout the month of October. In Mervyn LeRoys’s ‘Little Caesar’ Caesar Enrico Bandello is actually an Italian American gangster, but actor Edward G. Robinson was Jewish (he was born Emmanuel Goldenberg) and his breakout performance as the Chicago based culprit is a benchmark for movie badasses. Good enough for us.
